Thousand Oaks increases City Speed Limit

The speed limit on several streets in Thousand Oaks has been increased to 50 MPH which is the Freeway speed of a few years ago. This is apparently our City management's answer to overcrowding! If you can't control development and you are incapable of controlling speeders increase the speed limit.

Here is the logic behind this wonderful thinking:
We can't control them and we won't prosecute them so let's increase the speed limit so we do not have to manage it!

With increased speed comes more noise, pollution and potential for more accidents (deaths). Were these City streets designed for 50 MPH speeds?
